COSMIC RELIEF: NEW YEAR, NEW HORIZONS

In my opinion, the tradition of New Year’s resolutions is a collectively accepted form of magic. At the end of each year, we all come together in agreement that the year that just followed is in the past and we have a new chapter beginning.   

In 2023, we find ourselves in a cosmic makeup that invites us to follow our inner fire. Jupiter, which expands our consciousness, begins the year in the Aries, and stays there until mid-May. It then moves into the steadfast sign of Taurus.  

This transit presents an opportunity to blast our resolutions and selves, into the year successfully, followed by the possible security of a firm landing.   

And while we are charging forward, Saturn’s transits this year will be asking us to put our best foot forward. Saturn rules our sense of responsibility and will complete its zodiac cycle in the compassionate sign of Pisces on Mar. 7, where it will stay for the next two and a half years. So, while we are making plans to be the most authentic version of ourselves, Saturn will be reminding us to be sensitive to others as well.    

March will also see Pluto, our collective ruler of transformation and regeneration, moving into the sign of Aquarius. Pluto speaks to worldwide and generational ideas. It is the furthest planet from the sun and therefore takes the longest to move through the zodiac. Pluto will enter Aquarius briefly from Mar. 23 to June 11, giving us a glimpse of what is in store when it stations officially in Aquarius in 2024, where it will stay for the next 21 years.   

With Pluto in Aquarius, we can expect big changes in science, technology and possibly social media. Aquarius also brings rebellion and humanitarian justice.  

It’s no surprise that the last time Pluto was in Aquarius, North America saw the worst and the end of the American Revolutionary War, along with the signing of the American Constitution.  

It also saw the French Revolution, the beginnings of the industrial revolution and the peak of China’s Qing dynasty, one of the largest empires in history.  

Expect March to bring some major shake-ups this year.  

Last year, our eclipses occurred on the Taurus-Scorpio axis. This year, we will see eclipses occurring between the Taurus-Scorpio axis and the Aries-Libra axis. This means that themes of the 2022 eclipses will likely resurface as we are moving forward into our next eclipse season.  

Expect to gain some clear insight and to find a way forward from some unsettled emotional matters that may have arisen in 2022.   

This clarity and movement may be what we all need to move into what is coming next.  

Astrologically, it appears as though we are in some major shifts collectively, and this year seems to be the threshold into that path forward.

ARIES   

Expect some major shifts in your luck this year. You’ll find yourself more confident and fun-loving at the beginning of the year while you relax into a more indulgent and extravagant second half.   

Affirmation: I can indulge confidently and responsibly.  

TAURUS  

You’ll be starting the year off under blankets and in severe hibernation. Come March, you’ll be sparked with some tenacity that will have you buzzing in the spotlight for the second half of the year.  

Affirmation: I am worthy enough and can ease into the limelight.  

GEMINI  

You’ll be very social at the beginning of the year but want nothing to do with the world in the second half. It’s time to tighten the bonds with those close friends and make peace with your inner voices.    

Affirmation: I only surround myself with love.  

CANCER  

Aim high at the beginning of this year, as you’ll probably achieve something you’ve been working towards for a while now. After the hard work of the winter, you can expect some exciting new encounters through to the fall.   

Affirmation: I can enjoy the present moment.  

LEO  

Expect a burst of motivation at the beginning of the year that will have you craving adventure. As the year concludes, you can expect some accolades or long-term goals to be fulfilled.   

Affirmation: I succeed where I am inspired.  

VIRGO  

A chapter in which youhave been indebted to others is coming to an end at the beginning of this year. With that moving into the past, the second half of the year will have you wanting to expand your horizons.   

Affirmation: I am ready for adventure.  

LIBRA  

The year will start off with some changes in your partnerships. Expect the second half of the year to create some interesting investment opportunities that may have you forging new connections.   

Affirmation: I invest in reciprocal relationships.  

SCORPIO  

The fiery energy of the winter will have you wanting to make big changes in your day-to-day routine. It’ll offer you the spark you need to tend to those practical matters. Expect some new partnerships as the year winds down.   

Affirmation: I can make my responsibilities fun.  

SAGITTARIUS  

A playful thrust into the year will have you filled with creative inspiration. You will spend the winter being bold and expressive. By the end of spring, you’ll start wondering how to make those creative ideas a reality.   

Affirmation: I can manifest my dreams and desires. 

CAPRICORN  

Your sense of home and family will feel replenished and bountiful as you ease into the spring. The second half of the year will bring some inspirational and romantic energy your way.   

Affirmation: I can let loose and still feel safe and loved.  

AQUARIUS  

You will be filled with ideas, information and inspiration as the year begins. You may make some friendships in the winter that will lead to some strong bonds as the year closes off.

PISCES  

The year opens with an indulgent energy that may have you wanting to live a little more extravagantly. Expect to forge new relationships with neighbours or your community as the year ends.
