Inside Style Frugal, a new consignment shop downtown Kitchener - CARLEY MCGLYNN

Just in time for spring, Styl Frugal, opened it’s doors recently on March 12th, just off King Street at 30 Ontario Street. Style Frugal provides affordable, gently used, stylish and inspiring clothing for both men and women. Targeted at young professionals and students of the Kitchener-Waterloo area, the boutique consigns all sizes and types of clothing, shoes and accessories. As a frequent consignment store shopper myself, I had to check out this new addition to the K-W consignment market.

Helena Kwiecinski, store owner, told me she opened the store seeking a happier, more enjoyable lifestyle of her own. The store really embodies this mantra as well, boasting bright colours, fashionable finds and trendy pieces. “It’s not all about the labels,” Kwiecinski said. “It’s more about the style and fashion.”

“Many of the consignment stores in the local area are not accessible to young professionals and quite selective,” Kwiecinski explained. Styl Frugal solves this issue by providing stylish pieces at reasonable prices from brand names such as H&M, Joe Fresh, Gap, Topshop, Old Navy and more. Kwiecinski initially opened the store stocked with clothing gathered from her own travels in the United Kingdom, from family and friends, and a jewelry merchandiser from Los Angeles.

While browsing through the shop, I found myself a nice royal blue Gap top and some stylish jewelry to add to my spring and summer wardrobe.I certainly saw many other cute finds to be discovered in the shop – if you are looking for fashionable spring clothing, look no further. The great thing about buying from consignment stores is the thrill of never quite knowing what you’ll find, but walking out of the store with an item absolutely perfect for you. It can be fun to discover something that you need and like to wear for a low price, especially if you’re on a tight budget. There are many benefits to buying used or consigned clothing, including cost savings, being eco-friendly, the vast variety of styles, and the fact that consignment stores give you a chance to use your imagination and try new things with your style in an affordable way.

If you would like to consign your clothing, contact Kwiecinski or stop by the shop. All sizes and styles of clothing, shoes and accessories are accepted. Style Frugal can be found on Facebook and Twitter, and is open Tuesday to Friday, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
