I would have a hard time believing you if you said you hadn’t heard of Bad Child at this point. The young artist has spent the past year-and-change making a name for himself on stages across the globe, but he recently made his way to Maxwell’s for a hometown gig.
Upon first listen, I thought of the classic ‘80s movie The Lost Boys. A handful of tracks on his recent project Sign Up wouldn’t feel out of place on the soundtrack, but that’s not to say his music is dated.
If anything, it’s more inspired: classic ‘80s dance vibes with a modern twist.
With electrifying production often featuring jarring synths and a steady pulse of a beat, many of his tracks translate well to a live setting.
A quick glance through his Instagram page, @badchildsound, shows a performer who is talented well beyond his years with a supporting cast that doesn’t pull any punches.
Most recently, Bad Child dropped some enchanting visuals for the standout track “Pretty Girls” and the video is available to watch on YouTube. If you have a good eye you might spot some familiar locations across his visual output, but don’t expect to see him stick around in one spot too long.
Check out Sign Up, available on all streaming platforms, and look out for his next local appearance.
