As the Cord Community Edition begins, we’re looking for volunteers to help out with all the things that are going to make the magazine fantastic. In particular, we’re looking for:
Writers: There are a ton of opportunities to write for the Cord Community Edition. We’re publishing anything from small profiles to 3000 word features. Volunteers can also pitch stories to our Associate Editor. We’re open to unique perspectives and want to include as many as possible.
If volunteering is too much commitment for you, we’re also looking for community contributors. These writers will provide short opinion pieces on an issue currently making waves in K-W.
Photographers: We need people who are out in the community snapping pics for us all the time! Much like The Cord weekly, we’ll be sending out photographers to cover certain events. But we also need eyes in the community so we can have up-to-date photos for our website and twitter feeds.
Graphic Designers: The Cord Community Edition is an opportunity to take the Cord in a new and exciting visual direction. We’re looking for folks who have visual flair to help with making the magazine look great.
What are we looking for in volunteers?
- Note that you do not have to be a student at Wilfrid Laurier to volunteer for The Cord Community Edition. You do have to be passionate about K-W and building community.
- You don’t have to have a lot of experience – we’re willing to help you build it. That said, we are looking for people that have talent in whatever area they want to work in.
- We need committed individuals that can meet deadlines and manage time effectively.
If you’re interested, send an email outlining why you’re interested to with a few samples of your work to communityeditor@thecord.ca.
