Volunteers are stars. They are the heart and soul of the Volunteer Action Centre – an organization that helps build and develop community capacity for volunteerism – and all of our many local member non-profit organizations.
Volunteers do so much for the community and they do this all on their own time. Like stars, volunteers are constantly growing, moving, and changing. When one is discovered, we want to honour them.
The Volunteer Action Centre is asking for help in selecting Volunteer Stars in Waterloo Region by inviting nominations for exceptional volunteerism for consideration at the ninth annual Volunteer Impact Awards.
The Volunteer Impact Awards Gala will be hosted on Thursday, April 3, 2014 as a launch event for National Volunteer Week April 6-13 and as a celebration of the Volunteer Action Centre’s 30th Anniversary. The event will celebrate 12 recipients who donate their time and talents to make a difference in our community. This year there will also be special recognition given to someone who has contributed to all 30 years of volunteerism since the centre began in 1984.
The nomination deadline is Friday, January 31, 2014 with details about all 11 categories and a nomination form online at volunteerkw.ca.
Everyone is invited to attend the event on April 3 at Victoria Park Pavilion. Tickets will also be on sale via the Volunteer Action Centre. Table, auction and event sponsorships are still available contact Dianne Boston-Nyp at 519-742-8610, or email dianne@volunteerkw.ca
