Hiring: social media coordinator (volunteer)

The Cord Community Edition – Waterloo Region’s Independent Monthly community newspaper – is seeking a volunteer social media coordinator.

As social media coordinators, you will help our team reach a wide audience of Waterloo community members and build our online brand. You’ll also get to attend great events and work with people who are passionate about journalism and community building.

We’re looking for someone who can

  • Help put a long term social media strategy in place
  • Has an excellent understanding of various social media platforms and SEO optimization
  • Interested in journalism and communications
  • Has lots of great ideas and isn’t shy to speak up about them

Duties will include

  • Overseeing the Cord Community’s various social media accounts
  • Creating social media strategies for the CCE and for our various special events during the year (10 ideas to change Waterloo, Best of Waterloo Region)
  • Attending bi-monthly editorial sessions
  • Working with editors and writers to create interesting online content

The expected time commitment is 5-10 hours a week. This volunteer position is a permanent one – please do not apply if you expect to be unavailable throughout the summer.
