You could win tickets to Oil Sands Karaoke on February 6 at the Princess Original Cinema
The film follows a karaoke contest in the heart of Alberta’s oil sands and gives voice to those often ignored in debates about the massive tar sands project – the workers on the ground.
Filmgoers can find out how five of the finalists ended up in Fort McMurray and what they think about the controversial work they do.
Embracing nuanced and uncomfortable perspectives on environmental and political issues is unfortunately rare – as are fun-focused events in the environmental movement. We’re offering both: the $10 film admission also includes a line bypass at Chainsaw and a tall can of Pabst Blue Ribbon
so attendees can sing away any post-screening blues – or just rock out on stage.
The screening, February 6 at 7:00pm, is part of A\J’s Planet in Focus KW series and is presented with the support of the Princess Cinemas and with funding from the Region of Waterloo’s Community Environment Fund.
To win, enter one of three ways:
- Tweet: I’m ready to sing to win two tickets to Oil Sands Karaoke Feb. 6 from @CordCommunity and @AlternativesJ! #KWawesome
- Share our photo on Facebook (make sure you set it to public or we won’t see your entry!)
- Email communityeditor@thecord.ca with the subject line: Oil Sands Karaoke – include your name and contact info in the email.
Enter all three ways to have three entries! We will randomly select a winner on Feb. 4. Tickets are available here.
