Very disappointing …..Very few Cambridge establishments. if you are judging the whole region, you should include the whole region.

Thanks for the feedback, Gary! This list was created through nomination by our readership from a form that was open to contribute to all of last month – we hope the Cambridge nominations grow in years to come too!

What a bizarre list of options. The Registry, much as I love it, is not a theatre company but a venue. Where were MT Space or Lost & Found or Flush Ink. Where were the best filmmaker categories, in a region that has produced films that are now hitting festivals world-wide? We have a film community that goes unnoticed at home, yet were featured in TMN’s Movie Entertainment Magazine with over 400,000 subscriptions across Canada? Good to see Melissa Durell’s street team working overtime to pack the nominations, it makes good sense that a PR firm generates its own PR. I thought the first round of nominations was weird, now it’s smaller and weird.

      Hi Lazlo,
We’re always open to expanding our category list, and film/filmmakers would make a phenomenal addition. Thanks for the suggestion!

I agree this is VERY Waterloocentric, and some of the categories are peculiar or extremely limited to what audience would be familiar enough to cast a vote, while others are simply about the most known, not the best. There really should have been at least some attempt to include more Cambridge names and businesses if this is a regional poll. It should have been offered blindly rather than a condensed list of pre-chosen names/establishments. then you might actually get some interesting results!

Jonathan, as Allison has explained elsewhere, “this list was created through nomination by our readership from a form that was open to contribute to all of last month – we hope the Cambridge nominations grow in years to come too!” Thanks for sharing.

Fun list…not just saying that because I made the list! Thanks!

Gary above noted this…the list does tend to show a Waterloo-centric list. Might suggest to the paper ways of spreading out to Cambridge and even south Kitchener. Perhaps a followup piece on “Hidden Gems” in the region might be good. For example, Easy Pour in Blair, Black Badger Patio, Millpond Records and Books…

Also thinking you could add Best Hair stylist and Barber, best graffiti, best place to walk the dog and/or (and this certainly doesn’t apply to me) Best front yard or garden.

I do think these are great for bringing attention to restaurants and other places to visit. I have compiled my list!

Voting closes October 25th? Is that right? Not Sept 25th? Over a month of voting?
