Ish and Chips to Start Over

The beloved Uptown fish and chip operation, Ish and Chips, is revamping their business after a damaging fire brought their establishment to the ground this past summer. It sounds like a food truck is in the works! Here’s a sneak peek of their mobile kitchen they recently posted on their Facebook page.

 

RIM Prepares for BB10 Launch

Local Research In Motion gets ready to launch their brand-new, re-designed and re-engineered BlackBerry mobile device on January 30th. As originally reported by The Cord: “Nobody understands more than we do about getting BlackBerry 10 right. And right the first time,” said Nick Manning, a spokesperson for RIM. The release of the BlackBerry 10 has been delayed numerous times, with many launch dates originally slated for the fall of 2012, but the device will officially launch at the end of this month. Cold Temperatures Hit the Region

News about frigid temperatures this week have been all over Twitter, Facebook and the evening news coverage. Temperatures in the negative twenties have led the region to bundle up, yet no records have been broken. Next week the temperatures are expected to rise.

 

Prime Minister Visits Country Boys

One of the city’s favourite breakfast places was graced with the presence of Prime Minister Stephen Harper this week. He was in Cambridge to announce that Toyota will receive $33.8 million from the federal and provincial governments to help produce a luxury hybrid SUV. It was all smiles, handshakes and small talk in the restaurant as he visited with local MPs.

 

Waterloo Police Prepare for a Possible Mass Shooting Situation

In a simulated situation, using simulated weapons, Waterloo region officers train for an event they hope never comes — a mass shooting at an office, industrial site or school.
